Closest cons are Project A-kon in Dallas, Texas, and Anime Weekend Atlanta
(guess where). Check out the anime web turnpike conventions page at
http://www.anipike.com/cons.html for more info.

Anime Express ran in Daytona Beach last year, but it may have folded. No news
on Anime Express '99.

A few resources for folks here in Florida.

First an unabashed plug for my own page, the Tampa Bay fandom page at:

http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Station/1077

and also the Southern Fandom Resource Guide at

http://www.scenic-city.com/sfrg

Hope this helps!

One of the biggest and most long-standing traditions for cons in the NW FL area is the Freecon on FSU campus every year in I believe March. It is really a large and outstanding Con. The campus anime and Japanese culture appreciation club is mostly responsible for organizing it and hosting. I think you can find their information on Facebook.
