http://www.animated-news.com/2008/disney-announces-ten-animated-films-through-2012/

posts the detailed press release Disney has released regarding new film
projects. The project include:

Four Original features from Pixar:

WALL*E ( This year's big project of course )
Up ( I find this film's premise the most intriguing, because there's so
little detail in the premise, but it's still very promising. )
Newt ( Hmm, sounds like an animated romantic comedy )
The Bear and the Bow ( Maybe it has a Mel Gibson cameo? :-)

Two Pixar sequels

Toy Story 3
Cars 2

Four Walt Disney Feature animation films

Bolt ( Too bad Chris Sanders didn't finish this project )
The Princess and the Frog ( glad to see a new traditional animation
project, directed by Musker and Clements no
less )

Rapunzel ( They're finally finishing this project. Who knows what it's
supposed to be like now, though? Conventional fairy tale
movie or "Shrek"/"Enchanted" satire? )
King of the Elves ( Hmm, a Disney adaptation of a Phillip K. Dick short
story )

Pixar will also rerelease "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" in Digital 3-D. And
Disney has...direct to video CGI Tinker Bell movies...

Tinker Bell
Tinker Bell: North of Neverland
Tinker Bell: A Midsummer Storm
Tinker Bell: A Winter Story

Oh, whoopee...Maybe the movies will have a lot of Tinker Bell fanservice and
they won't be so bad after all. :-)

I guess there's never going to be an Incredibles sequel. Man, that's too
bad, I really liked that movie a LOT.

Never's a long time. Remember how long it was before they did sequels to
Peter Pan and Cinderella?

Wow. That's a lot of CGI Tinker Bell. Did something happen
to make her interesting?

Conventional, and rubbing the old regime's face in it:
The "Shrek" version was kicked out the door with Eisner, and burned in
effigy.

Which all, strangely enough, are listed as coming from "Toon Studios",
which John Lasseter shut down last year--
I suspect not all the production information is up to date.

The title logo offers some promising hints:

So how explicit are they going to get as to how to make baby newts...?

No, he shut down the production of cheapquels. These Tink films are
"Disney Fairies" franchise products instead.

There's a fairy fad. My niece has a CGI Barbi fairy dvd (bad animation,
but not horrible overall for what it is) and Disney has put out a line
of products using Tinkerbell and three other fairies. This is the
obvious next step, and I'd expect the quality to at least be high.

Several possible answers spring to mind:

"There will be some tasteful newtity."

or

"They'll pixellate the newty bits."

or

"Read my lips: no newt asses!"

The Peter Pan and Cinderella sequels were just a cheap attempt to cash in on
old properties. Just re-releasing the originals to theatres again wasn't
going to work anymore.

The problem with The Incredibles is that it's not a Disney production but a
Pixar production and a cheapquel isn't going to work. But given the success
of the movie it's sure that a sequel will be made some day.

No doubt an attempt to grab some of the Barbie fairies market.

Actually, they were safeguards to extend copyrights, just in case Mickey
Mouse's bill didn't extend through Congress--

After it did, there was no reason to keep the unpopular and embattled
side of a franchise going...
Especially after "Bambi II" ended up selling as much as "Bambi I" on
disk, and Toon Studios realized there was more money in "Reminder"
sequels to forgotten movies like Aristocats and Fox & the Hound.

A thoroughly justified retaliation, for Barbie's unwarranted invasion on
the Princess market with "Swan Lake"...

Talk about box office poison! The new guys had better keep at
least *some* of the Shrek/Enchanted irrevernence if they don't want to
to end up in the cutting room floor of movie history . . .
