This posting is for those who fondly remember the old animated tv
show that first coined the phrase "Spider-man, Spider-man, does whatever
a spider can. Spins a web...".
I have received more enjoyment from that nearly thirty year old
tv program than I have from any other. I guess that it's pretty silly
that I can say that seeing as I am 24 years old. I just can't help it.
Every once in a while I find myself going to the shelf and dusting off
those old video cassettes. Watching them again is like reliving a small
piece of my childhood. I am pretty much a newbie on the internet and I
just felt like trying to find out if there are any others out there that
also have fond memories of this classic show. I would enjoy discussing
anything that comes to mind about the series. I have a list of the
episodes and a few articles, some of them fairly old, about the show.
I may, perhaps, have answers to some questions about the series. I also
have some questions myself. Does anyone know where the cells are?
Has the sound-track ever been released? Is the show on the air anywhere?
Are there any books that include history of the program? What were your
most and least favorite episodes and characters? I look forward to any
comments that you may have.

Thanks in advance.

Winston.

The only one I know the answer to is the soundtrack. I heard the theme song
on a Television Themes CD, I beliebe put out by TVT.

I have the theme song. I would like the soundtrack of the entire show.
I figure that's likely an impossibility.

Thank-you just the same.

When was the last time that you saw the show air?
Back home in Nova Scotia Canada it ran on MITV about three years ago.

Your friendly neighborhood newbie,

That recording on the CD is in itself a really poor copy compared to the other
TV theme songs, Has anyone come across a *Good* copy of this great song?

Hmmm. Don't give me any ideas! I just may take what episodes I have and do
this. I do know that some of the footage from the first and second seasons
used stock background music. Many of the "groovy" tunes you heard were
avilable at the time for tv production companies to use. The best examples
of this I know are the sax/guitar chase music from the first Kingpin episode
(can't remember the title - late :)) also showed up in an episode of
Doctor who - _The War Machines_, another one is the music from the episode
_Up from Nowhere_ is used in a number of Monty Python episodes.

The YTV Network in Canada aired Spiderman as recently as this December!
They showed the 1st episode of the new FOX show and the following weeks
had these episodes:

The Orgin of Spiderman
The Menace of Mysterio
The Power of Dr. Octopus/(Cant recall name of the other)

IMHO _The Menace of Mysterio_ is the best of the series, at least from a
storytelling/animation point of view. The story is a near perfect retelling
of Amazing Spiderman #13. The orgin story has it's rough edges (No doubt
due to the wild mind of a Mr. Bakshi) but is essentially faithful to the
original Amazing Fantasy #15.

My question is: What kind of drugs are the programmers at YTV on!!!??!

They air this show, which has potential to draw a lot of adults who watched
it in its original run and lot of young adults who watched it in syndication
in the late 70's/early 80's (like myself) and replaced it after ONLY THREE
WEEKS with (ugh!) Cops.
I know a *lot* of people who either want all the episodes of this show
in transmission order (tough - no one shows it like this) or at lest want
any episodes.

Let's all say it again.... YTV needs a kick in the arse!!!

Regards,
-G
and yes, I do have a personal grudge with *any* network that would censor Red
Dwarf!!!
