Red Devil -What to feed?

I've just added a Red Devil to my cichlid tank, and for some reason, he's
not eating the flake food the other cichlids seem to enjoy. He does like
little pieces of McDonalds hamburger patties and my mother's oatmeal
cookies, but I need a regular food for him. Suggestions?

Have you tried feeding your Red Devil live foods, such as adult brine
shrimp, black worms, or small earth worms yet? That'll usually do the
trick, and get a new, stubborn to eat fish eating again.

Red Devils being cichlids will love almost any type of live or frozen food.
That's why he likes the hamburger patties although that is not a good food
for him (or us for that matter :) ). Try some bloodworms or beefheart. For a
staple food, try some smaller pellet foods. Those might be more to his liking.
You might want to soak the pellets first so they don't swell in his gut and
the like. My cichlids adored Wardley's Cichlid Bites as youths although
now they pretty much only eat Hikari Cichlid Gold. Try around with various
brands. Maybe see if you can find sample packages to see which he likes.
Just keep trying and I'm sure you'll find one.

I find that Red Devils will eat Rosie Red Feeders and the food every
fish enjoys, Tetra Bits!

My Red Devils eat Cichlid Pellets, Frozen Brine Shrimp, Bloodworms, Beefheart,
Krill, and live Rosies and Goldfish. They will basically tear anything apart
you put in the tank, if it will fit into their mouths.

Red Devils thrive on human flesh <G>

Seriously though you could try pelletised food, there are many brands
available.
I used to feed mine on Microvit pellets, made in QLD Australia, by
Aqua-life.

Of course when mine bit me once too often i traded him in.
