anyone have a favorite LA area aquarium shop? in particular, somewhere
with a good selection of marine aquarium supplies, service, and
reasonable prices.

my experience so far is that equipment prices (pumps, skimmers, etc)
tend to be close to double relative to mail order. i'd prefer to buy
locally as long as i'm getting outstanding service for the premium.

somewhere within 1/2 hour of the Beverly/Fairfax area would be nice.

H2O tropicals down in Orange County is the most impressive place I've
seen.

I would also say Jeff at H2O Tropicals has one of the best stores on the
west coast. While your down here go see Green Reef Tropical Fish in Costa
Mesa on harbor and wilson next to Kmart.

There is a fish store directly east of the Beverly Center on Beverly Blvd
about 4 or 5 blocks. Look for the blue sign on the south side of the
street that reads "Tropical Fish." Can't comment on prices, but I like to
stop in and look around when I am in the area.

No TRW opinion here, only mine.

I personally buy all my fish there, (FW, though) and not a problem yet.
It's at the SW corner of Beverly & Crescent Heights.

there when I was in High School, and took a bus with three transfers
over an hour each way to buy one fish, in a milk carton, for the ride

east of Barrington. Mike

Been there, done that! I believe you're referring to "LA Aquarium".
Great store, especially if you like inverts. Take a peek in through the
door to their back room with its 8' Sanders skimmer and 8' biotowers!
