I have 2 reef tanks that have been up and running for just over a year.
I've had my share of algae blooms of one sort or another, but things have
settled out and have been fine for quite a while. About 6 weeks ago, I
switched from Reef Crystals to Kent Marine salt, and alsp began adding
Kent Marine supplements (stronium, iodine, essential elements, coralvite,
and ZOE). In the past two weeks I've been experiencing growths of green
algae that I can best describe as looking like cotton balls growing mostly
on the rock. Could my changes in product have caused this? What else
might have triggered the bloom? I'd be happy to provide more details if
needed. Please post here or e-mail me at the address below.

Thanks in advance....Dan.

I would quit using ZOE, coralvite and essential elements. I doubt that these
are necessary and they probably contain elements that serve as fertilizer for
algae. Try to run a nutrient poor reef with as few additives as possible.
Regular water changes will do the rest. Good luck.
