I am 10 years old. I have a 29 gallon tank which is quite healthy with 2
mollys, 2 swordtails, and 2 angels. I have seen little African frogs in
stores and am wondering if their good for the tank. What do the eat? Do
they need a land area. my tank is about 78-80 degrees.

These frogs are completely aquatic, so they don't need any land area. When I
bought mine, the people at the fish store told me that they're scavengers;
I've seen them eating leftovers off the gravel, or the fish's flake food.
And they loooooove freeze-dried shrimp.

These guys are great fun.

They are a lot of fun.....However, they will eat smal fish!!! They
love Neon Tetras, I couldn't keep one in the tank...Also, here in NJ
you need a permit to own them, I don't know if that's a State or
Federal Law??? I think because in the wild they will eat fish eggs and
larvae, thus if someone lets them go in a local lake they will eat all
the fish eggs.....

They are a lot of fun to watch though, very active...I've been
thinking about getting another one. Watch out though, they will jump
out of the tank....They live outside the tank for awhile, they just
start to dry out...

Hi Sam,

I have 2 dwarf underwater frogs in my tank. I keep the tank a
little cooler. They love to eat frozen blood worms. I had alot
of trouble keeping frogs alive in the beginning, so don't get
discouraged. You can find some excellent information about
undewater frogs in a book called "Frogs, Toads & Treefrogs" by
Bartlett (that's last name only) There is a difference between
the dwarf underwater frong and the African clawed frog.
Good luck!
