With all the talk about occasional nitrate spikes on even the best kept
reef tanks I'm considering purchasing an electronic nitrate remove
(N-Forcer 400). Does anyone have any experience with these units. I saw
a similar question here before but I couldn't find it or any replies.

Brain,

Instead of spending alot of money on such a unit, you could try an
alternative.

A natural alternative can be used: Mangroves. Mangroves naturally remove
organics from the water. You can read about this in the Eastern PA Reef
Club January newsletter http://www.netpets.org/~whorst

I have seen data where after 1 week of using Mangroves, the Nitrates dropped
from 100 ppm to .5 ppm.
