Yesterday I bought a yellow tang and although he seems to be doing good,
he has lost much of the vibrant yellow that he had when I bought him.
His face is almost white. He still is yellow, but not like he was when
I bought him. Is it just because of the shock of a new aquarium, or
could it be that my water quality isn't perfect (I think it is
though....my other fish are very healthy and never had any problems with
my water perimeters.) Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Tangs are really picky I have found. In the past few years, every tang that
I have purchased and introduced into a tank has faded, and usually ends up
getting some sort of parasite. The color returns within a week if things
are stable and the water quality is good. Within a month, the parasite is
usually gone also. Also, be very careful when you do your water changes, as
just a slightly different salinity seems to do the same to the tang as
introducing it into a new tank.

Hope this helps. Also, I have noticed that some of my tangs actually turn
color throughout the day. I have one that turns brown when it gets scared,
or at night when its hiding under the coral.
