I have a small one gallon tank with a snail and a tetra and there are
these tiny, cream-colored 'things' all over the place. Some are in
groups of about eight, others are solitary, but all look JUST like
sesame seeds. Are these 'things' snail eggs? Some kind of parasite?
Some kind of plant life? Nothing new at all has been introduced into
the tank and it's very well established. Does anyone know what these
'things' are?

If you've got 2 snails, they will have more than likely have bred and so
they may be little snails. That's what happened to me, and they took over
the whole tank!

No, there's just one snail. I know snails are hermaphroditic, so a
single snail can reproduce on its own, but these 壮esame seeds' aren't
moving one bit. I took a magnifying glass to the tank and they could
be teeny-tiny snails, but they have yet to move at all.

I hope somebody knows the answer to this, as I have them too, and no amount
of cleaning the glass prevents their return.
Also...I have NEVER had snails in the tank, so that possibility is
eliminated (and no, nothing new introduced for 6 months).

Have you tried to remove one from the tank to examine it out of the water?

John,
Boy was my face red when I read you're query, because, no, I had not removed
one and inspected it!
SO, I did, and it is a hardish sesame seed looking thing - nothing
earth-shaking to report. I could see
no legs or any other appendages that might tip me off as to what this
is...for my eyes it is too small to
see well- I need a microscope! I will ask at the pet store and report my
findindgs when I do.
