It is definitely not normal for a Betta to leak coloured fluids.
How new is your fish? Bettas are occasionally shipped in a malachite blue
solution--the water is stained blue--but I've never heard of this chemical
being trapped in the fish or later reappearing. Perhaps your Betta was
dosed inapproperiately and malachite was swallowed or absorbed somehow, but
that would still be extremely odd.
Are you sure there is not another factor at play somewhere?

==================
Perhaps he's using blue gravel in the betta bowl/tank and it's leaching.

No, Delphi is an old fish, we've had him since October 2002. Part of
our concern is that he's so old.
We just changed the water, water was rested a few days & treated with
Bowl Buddies. No other additive, nothing that would change the color.
The water in Snobol's bowl is still clear.
Delphi's bowl is always dirtier. He seems to defecate a lot! More than
Delphi or Pascal (another beta we used to have). But he's never turned
it colors before & this seemed to come from his mouth & gills.

I never heard of this happening. It's really odd. Where would the color
pigments be coming from?

Maybe he's an aristocratic fish and thus a blue blood? It 100% has got to
be something other than the fish.

That's what I think as well. There is no way the fish's pigments can leave
the fish and enter the water to color it......

Well the fins hold a lot of pigment, perhaps they are rotting or have some
sort of infection.
Dead betta stain tanks and surfaces with their colour.
not a good look tho.
somethings wrong!
Well flattery will not get you anywhere with me boy you still are a
dickhead. See you should have spent more time studying instead of
playing with yourself. Has anyone ever told you that you look like a
Dick with ears? Well if not, you do!
Well I am of the belief that your still a fucking asshole.

I agree. I hope he finds out what caused it and lets us know.

I know just the cause and its out on the internet....duh..you mjust
need to do a bit of looking instead of trashing the
groups..........and I am not going to tell you until I read that the
betta bit the dust and went tits up! The answer is very very simple
and it wil amaze you when / if I ever reveal it.
His fins aren't as large and showy as they once were, but we attributed
that to old age. In the past we've tried the normal remedies for fin
disease to no avail.
Time to try again.
Thanks & will keep you updated.

See if the water was brown it would be the fish leaking blood out it's arse!
Blue means that it has to be leaking the pigment, not the melanin or guanine
or whatever but the actual chromo fingys.
This bowl buddys chemical is probably the cause, or it could be some strange
food.
I would say though that something in the move stressed the fish, not a good
sign as it must equate with perhaps an ammonia burn or something to destroy
and free pigments from the skin.
Anyway around 100 betta's in my life atm, all sorts of stuff.
I say it's not a good sign but then I'm not sure about this bowl buddy
thingy

However, after changing back to clean & unmedicated water, it seems to
have helped. No more blue from the mouth & gills and he seems a bit
more active.
He sems to be doing OK for such an old fella.
