I just got the Python yesterday and tried to clean my tank with it.

The directions were a little confusing.

I attached everyting ok, then turned on the water from the sink. Should
the water be going into the sink or into the tank to build up suction ?

Do you leave the water on the whole time ?

The bottom of the part, that connects to the water faucet should be pulled
down ... water should be pouring into your sink, while you water is running
full blast from the faucet to the aquarium You have to work fast ... as it
really drains the tank quickly.

I found that once I started the siphon, I could turn off the faucet and the
water would still drain, though somewhat slower. This gives me enough
time to wipe the sides of the tank and clean the filter intake. Then I turn
the water back on to clean the gravel.

the surgeon general has determined that putting snakes in your tank can be
harmful to your fish! :-)
