Hello,
I've kept goldfish for several years now and have experienced many
goldfish sicknesses and deaths. However, I have a new symptom that I
can't explain. Several days ago, I woke up to fine one of my white
orandas laying on it's side on the bottom of the tank. I thought it was
dead, but it's gills were still moving. Well at least three days have
passed, but it hasn't died. Usually when a fish gets motionless and can
no longer move, it dies shortly after. Well, it's been three days now
and it just doesn't move (it's in the same spot when I get home from
work as it was when I left, etc). Anyone ever experience something like
this? It is not like anything I've ever seen in my 6 years of goldfish
keeping. Yes, water quality, etc are fine.

Phillip, I have seen something similar to this when fish go into pH shock.
The fish go on their sides and are gasping for air but when you go to touch
them, they dash off. I'm not sure if this is what your fish is going
through but maybe I could ask you a few questions.

What is the size of your tank?
How many fish are in it?
What type of food do you feed and how often?
Is there gravel in the tank?
When was the last time the tank was stripped if there is gravel in it?
If you do water changes, how much and how often?
How do you remove water from the tank?
What size filter are you using?
How often do you clean it?
Is this a new fish?
Was there any new fish added to the tank within the last month?

shock. move the fish thru the water. do the physical to see if there is
some problem. it is best to move this fish to new water since it sounds
neurological. Solo
