I have one pair of mature red-turqoise discus in a 20 gal. tank with sponge
filter, no gravel. They like to spawn on the glass on the tank, and after
approx. 24 hours the eggs start slowly to turn white and eventually get eaten.

Any suggestions? I do know that the pair is fertile, because I took some of
the eggs when they were still in the community tank - most those eggs hatched!

TIA

Could be fungus. One cause is water too hard which causes eggs to harden
before they can be fertilized. If the fungus is from some other cause you
might be able to treat with malachite green the first day to prevent it.
Good luck!

what is the hardness of the water ???
it should be 40-60 ppm

if that is the case then try using methyblue to control the fungus
also make sure the male is participating even fertile males are not
always in the mood.

What is your water hardness in that tank? Discus eggs - as I'm sure you know
require very soft water.

Methyblue does not harm the parents.
