Lamp. Cylindricus - Tanganyikan?

Recently I have seen a few fish showing up in some stores around here called a
Lamp. Cylindricus. It is about the size and shape of a Leleupi, but the color
is a medium blue gray with wide black horizontal bars (similar to a J.
Transcriptus Gombi). It is a striking fish and would like to put a few in with
some of my other Lamps and Julies, but I can find no reference to it in any
books. In one store I went to the same fish was marked Nanchromis
Transvestitus. When I found that in a book, it showed a few pictures, some
with some obvious sexual dimorphism, but the males did look a bit like the
cylindricus. The Nanachromis is a Congo River basin fish, expecting soft acid
water and the Lamp I would expect to be from Tanganyika, completely different
water condidtions. If anyone has any info on this fish please post it here.

a fish that acts very similar to Leleupi and they dine on invertebrates
found in the biocover of the lake, what means for the aquarists: they
eat about anything, preferable is of course live food, with exception of
'red food' like blood worms, red mosquito larves etc.. But this is
something to keep in mind for all tanganyikans.

When it is Neolamp. Cylindricus you won't be able to see a different in
sexes. The only way for sure is to look at the genitals of the fishes
the shape of cylindricus is almost alike leleupi, execpt the coloration.
the cylindricus has 7 to 8 dark colored brown bars on an white basic
color (I know there are some new species, but I don't saw them yet, so
it's inpossible to say anything about their colors). the fins are
transparent with a bleu line around these fins.
The real cylindricus has a wide tail fin witch is round. from here you
must see the different between them and nanochromis Transvestitus very
clearly.
Nanochromis transvestitus has a quite different in sexual dismorfism, in
exception to most other cichlids the FEMALES are the most beautiful !
I wouldn't recommend to put this fish in compagnionship with other
lamprologus, and especially not in a small tank (>60 gal.) and certainly
not with some kind of 'princess' like N. Daffodil and common species.
This fish can grow out to about 4", so keep in mind that at this large,
they aren't angels (for fry of other tankmates like Julies).

Thanks for the info... I'm sending all my photos to a web site called
Fish link Central if anyone is interested. I've already got tons of
email warning me not to post any more photos in here. Also got
something from news.admin.net-abuse warning me of all the rules I have
broken. Something about using up all the bandwidth up in a text only
base or something. Glad I only posted two photos... almost sent a whole
batch!
