Does anyone know how to sex a Pseudotropheus Socolofi? I have heard it is
nearly impossible!

All the stuff I say is IMHO.
Spam me if you want, it shows me that you are an idiot.
Thanks, Dave.

I've written an article about sexing fish with pictures to explain what
I'm talking about. It's at http://fishhead.com/articles/ventsex.htm. I
hope this helps.

Single dot and multiple dot locate at anal fin.

I had socolofi's and I couldn't distinguish this as easily as with other
species. I didn't trust it. Harder than with other more species.Assuming:
Single dot=F
Multiple = M

I'd Albino Soc. once, female is smaller w/ 3 dot and male is bigger w/ 1
large dot. These dot wouldn't be appear until atleast 5-6 months or
2"+(breedable age).

It's may not work in your head but it might to other. If you want better
and more illustrated advice to accommodate your brain, then log onto web
or get yourself a cichlid book, ASS().

It is generally more helpful if one can give more descriptive information to
the group like Gary did (thanks Gary, great site!). Especially if you use
complete sentences in your descriptions. There are a lot of beginners who
need you to be more specific and cannot deduce or 'use their brain' as they
do not have the background in fish care.

Wrong Answer. The egg spots on anal fins is not a good indication of sexing
fish. Sometimes it is possible but, it is definitely not a rule of thumb.
For instance both of my socolofi have 1 egg spot each. And right now I'm
raising a batch of 25 fry. So, using the previous logic, I have to fertile
females. Ron
