Hi everyone,
I've recently picked up a set of fruit knives with porcelain handles.
The blades are the color of brass and stamped
"uchatiusbronce" or "uchatius bronce" or ????
Can anyone shed any light on the maker or
country of origin?

Hi Jan,

The knife looks German, c. very late 19th century - early 20th century.
I'm not sure whether UchatiusBronce is a trade name or simply an
indication of the metal alloy used in the blade. Baron Franz von
Uchatius (an Austrian) invented a new process for making steel (Uchatius
Stahl) in 1856 and steel bonze (Uchatius Stahlbronze) in 1874.
