Not long ago in rec.antiques there was an ad for ADEC art at auction
listings online from the U.K. and I subscribed for $50 for which you get
50 responses on any artist that you request and that has a listing.
Well, I found a dozen or so 'sales records' for James Montgomery Flagg,
the artist best known for his WWI poster " Uncle Sam", "I Want You". I
only paid for & received 4 responses that were similar to mine.
1) a pencil drawing of Jack Sharkey@ $1900
2)a charcoal drawing of Dolorosa@ $425
3)a charcoal 'the Pride of Andalusa@ $550
4)pastel 'bust of a woman,Garda Clesene $600
I have a drawing that looks from the style of clothes to be from
the 20s-30s of a person named either Charles A. Bell OR Charles H.
Bell. (Flagg had a peculiar style of printing)
I went to my local library and looked through the Who's Who for
different years with NO luck. I'd like to know who Charles A. Bell is or
was.
Won't somebody Help Me ?
thanks,
Where's Charleen when I need her ?
