My wife and I recently aquired a baby set that includes a toy box, crib
and bureau.

The cribs tag marks it as being a "Benjemin" chestnut crib. All pieces
are decorated with two small wooden white ducks or geese with wooden
waves underneath these birds. The side rails of the crib have wooden
beads, about 1 1/2" in diameter imbedded in them in such a way as they
are able to spin around a verticle axis. The beads are pink and blue
alternately.

The manufacturer is the Lullabye Furniture Company in Stevens Point, WI

I would like to find the company (a yellow pages search found nothing)
as well as finding out whether i would be doing any damage in cleaning
this set if it has any value.

It's a nice solid set and we plan to use it.

Any help or information would be appreciated.

thx

I don't know anything about your set, but I would guess it is not 50
years old. In any event, I do know that some of the older cribs had the
side upright rails too far apart and a baby could get its head caught
causing serious injury or death. If you intend to use it I would
recommend that you check a current crib to see what the required
distance is.

if a pop can can go through the side rails, they are too far apart by
today's safety standards. in some areas it is illegal to sell a crib
that isn't up to today's standards unless it is being sold for "display"
purposes.

Lullaby furniture Co. No longer exists. As I remember being an employee in the late 70's and early 80's the company was owned by the same parent company that owned Spaulding sporting goods forget the name. Anyway they halted operations at the location in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and as far as I know, moved operations to Mexico. I'm not sure what the business name is now or if it still exists.
