I have for sometime collected Arthur Wood Pottery, which is based in
Longport, Stoke, England and has been in existence since 1884.

I am trying to find anything out about the history of Arthur Wood, Stamp
marks, etc., etc. Can anyone help as I can never find any reference to it in
any books.

Thanks.

Kovel's New Dictionary of Marks shows only one mark for Arthur Wood Pottery, as
shown at this link:

http://www.dallas.net/~rward/Image1.jpg

I apologize for the relatively large size and low quality, but my scanner isn't
working right now.

Kovels also dates the company as being in existance from 1904 to the present,
not 1884.

Godden's Encyclopedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks lists
Arthur Wood as in operation from 1904-1928, with successor firm Arthur
Wood & Son, Ltd., from 1928 through the date of publication (1964).
Might still be in business today.

Godden's shows one mark for Arthur Wood, five for Arthur Wood & Son,
Ltd., none of which match the mark shown in Kovels'.

Perhaps Ronnie will add some "real life experience".
