Hi all

Recently I purchased some pieces of Royal Doulton bone china. I would
love to be able to add to my collection but I am unable to identify
the pattern name.

I have posted photographs on Photo Bucket:

I would be really grateful if any experts out there could take the
time to have a look for me - any information would be appreciated. I
am a total novice in this area and purchased the pieces simply because
I fell in love with the design.

The set I purchased includes a sandwich plate which has 5-19 impressed
into the back. The dealer told me that this means the plate was
manufacturered in May 1919. The dealer was unable to give me any more
information about the pieces.

Regards

Lisa

I can't help much as I am no expert on Doulton, however as a general
antique collector the design looks to be an Edwardian 1900-10 style and
the ENGLAND mark was used by manufacturers from about 1890-1920. Country
of origin wasn't required by US customs before that and later MADE IN
ENGLAND was used. The mark was used whether the goods were destined for
the US or not.

Hi Lisa,

The company produced hundreds of patterns, your best bet is to look at
the inventory at replacements.com
they list each pattern with an image. It might take an hour of mouse
clicking, but it's probably listed in here
http://www.replacements.com/china/RD.htm

Hi Simon

Thanks very much for that - the dates fit in with what I suspected.
The search continues . . .

Cheers!

Hi Mike

Great advice - I'll get that mouse clicking. Thanks so much for taking
the time to respond to my question.

Cheers

Lisa, you don't have to find it yourself - if you copy the front &
back sides of a plate, for example, and send it to Replacements,
they'll identify it for you, free of charge.

Are they still doing that, or are they sensing that people
are using them only as an ID service? I'd recommend
that Lisa mention a "want" for the items. My last three
requests, without "want" mentioned, were never replied
to.
