I've Had It With EBay!

For at least the fifth (and LAST) time, I've been unable to place a bid
on an item on EBay as the closing time approached! Each bid took
approximately 7 minutes to complete! As my last bid was being placed,
the closing time came and went, while my bid just sat there, trying to
get through.

The seller lost a $30 bid, and now has to accept $22.50, all because
EBay can't process bids! What a waste of time! What's the point of even
trying to place a bid near the closing time!!!! That's like bidding at a
real, live auction, and suddenly having the auctioneer ignore your bids!

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm finished with EBay. It's just
TOO frustrating!

Hey, I have to agree with dpr...@ibm.net on this one. Sniping is
okay when it works for you, but is very frustrating when it doesn't....
so, the best bet is to give yourself and e-bay time to process the bid(s)
in advance of the closing hour, bid what you're willing to pay and hope
for the best. Besides, E-bay isn't really like a "live" auction; it's more
of
a "silent" auction where you don't know who's going to win until all the
bids are in and the auction closes (and, then again, the results could
change if a high bidder erroneously type in his/her e-mail address and it
happens to bounce back to the E-bay "bot" - they'll award the auction to
the next highest bidder...) Anyway, sorry to see you leave, E-bay is still
the best of the auction lots out there in terms of exposure and following.

Well, I'm thrilled with Ebay tonight... I collect pink transferware
with sheep but I haven't been able to find a piece to add to my
collection in _months_. I bid on ten pink Midwinter saucers with a
country scene and figured that at least a farm scene would sort of go
with my sheep (O.K. - I admit I was desperate for more transferware -
the shame, the horror :) I forgot about the transaction, but the box
arrived today and lo and behold - eight of the saucers had a big flock
of sheep on them (great price too). It was a really bad day until those
incognito sheep saucers showed up.

I've always had great luck with Ebay - and I try to bid the very most I
will pay for an item at least one day before the auction closes (I know,
I know, but I always up my price at the last minute - oops, should I
have admitted that? :) Ebay just isn't a 'real live auction' - but I
can understand your frustration...

Then put a higher bid in earlier as your max bid. I have been dealing with
eBay for about a year now, and have had no problems with bidding. The only
problem I have experienced is not being able to access the auctionweb
several times.

Have had the same problem, but finally realized my mistake.... Was
trying to get something at the lowest price possible! Now I simply
decide in advance when I find something I would like to get on a MAXIMUM
I am willing to bid to get it and enter that amount the first time
around and then just let it go. A lot easier on the nerves and often on
the budget as I can not get caught up in "auction frenzy"...
Works for me.
