Reuters reported today that a Amedeo Modigliani portrait and an Alberto
Giacometti sculpture set records for the artists Monday at an auction of art
from the Reader’s Digest corporate collection marked by mostly American
buyers. The total for the sale of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and
Modern art was $123,799,700.

The Modigliani, a 1919 portrait of his mistress, “Portrait of Jeanne
Hebuterne,” sold for $15,127,500 - including Sotheby’s commission -
surpassing the previous price of $12,432,500 paid for a Modigliani.
Giacometti’s 1950 sculpture, “The Forest, Seven Figures and One Head,”
fetched $7,482,500. The old record for a Giacometti was $6,881,600.

Gee Rich, I wonder if the corporates are gonna write to Reader's Digest and
reference it to "All in a Day's Work"? Now that would be funny!
