Town of Wilson, Wis.(WHBL) - Five volunteer firefighters suffered minor
chemical burns yesterday while fighting a fire at the Aldrich Chemical
Company on County Trunk V in the town of Wilson. The fire broke out in Lab
1 in the western portion of the Aldrich building about 12:30. Brian
Schmitt, Assistant Chief of the town of Wilson said at the height of the
fire there were 80 firefighters from six departments fighting the fire. He
said Aldrich Chemical provided a dry chemical agent to put out most of the
fire. Schmitt said the five firefighters, 2 from Oostburg and 3 from Cedar
Grove, suffered minor chemical burns to their lower legs. They were taken
to St. Nicholas Hospital where they were treated and released. The cause of
the fire hasn’t been determined, and so far, there are no damage estimates.
