I was also wondering if anybody might know where I could download a
manual for them off the net?
Your help is most Appreciated
Thank You
This site has a free download for the AG-9A, which is hopefully close
enough...but nothing for the IG-72. I'm not specifically familiar with
either unit, so I will leave that recommendation to others.

Good luck and have fun...
Further information...
The site above has the ENTIRE 22 page manual for the AG-9A; if you
scroll down a bit, it also has the SCHEMATIC ONLY for the IG-72.
Interestingly enough, a cursory examination of the schematics of both
units would seem to indicate that both units are virtually identical
electrically.
The IG-72 is just a later version of the AG-9. I think they are
virtually identical except for the cosmetics. If it's in good shape, I
would probably keep the IG-72 ...it's a great low distortion (for it's
time) sine wave generator. IIRC, I think Audio Amateur magazine had an
article back in the '70s or '80s for a mod to lower the distortion even
further.

This thread led me to check BAMA (in vain, alas) for a manual for my
IG-1272 audio generator. It's operating fairly well, except for a
sigificant amount of--for lack of a better term--'amplitude bounce' when
I switch frequencies. It takes several seconds for the level to settle
in whenever I push one of the selectors.
Is this known problem? Otherwise, the signal appears clean on my scope
once the output settles down; but it swings pretty wildly until then.

It did. I built the IG-72 with the AA mods. If anyone wants to purchase it,
please contact me directly.
Do they use a lamp as part of the feedback mechanism to improve the
linearity? The "bounce" may be the filament temperature reaching
equalibrium.

As I remember (had one 40 years ago), it's normal.

I am sorting through some things on the shelf and came across a
Heathkit IG-82 and was wondering if there is a need for both the
IG-82 and the IG-72 or AG-9?
I'm not sure if the IG-82 will do the same things plus as the other
two generators or not. I'm just starting to learn about them so I am
unsure if I should keep both?
Thanks for the help guys
Clay
I was also wondering if anybody has a copy of the article from the
Audio Amateur magazine Sofa Slug mentioned?
Thanks Everyone
Thanks, Alan.
