Hello everyone!   Just in case you have been wondering why I have been quiet on the Rebuild effort this week, I thought I would let you know it's because of an event kicking off on Sunday -- Movement Camp - in alignment with the 350.org campaign for 10-10-10 --- after that I'll have strong focus on Oct 29/30th digital Excellence Conference and the Rebuild/Reboot Meeting.

We're staging an online "Global Work Party" -- and while the film "Coalition of the Willing" which sparked the thread that led to MovementCamp addresses the Climate Activist community - the discussion of the information-action ecology we want is pertinent to this community - as is the call for peer-driven collaboration networks, and as the TED video on "accelerating crowdsourced innovation through video" suggests -- we're also looking for ways to share and accelerate innovation and general improvement of local practices.   http://www.digitalexcellence.net/2010/10/accelerate-innovation-and-the-movement-locally-globally/

So, as the video and note below make the general case for you to check out MovementCamp, just know I'd love your involvement - there are important synergies with our work, and i thnk we can be of service in that sector.

So, join us tomorrow, or join is Oct 29/30 ...
Or help from wherever you are even if you can't be there.

These networks are about our long term collaborative capacity.

Best regards,

Michael

Tomorrow  10-10-10 is the Global Work Party - (see 350.org for more background) -- It's focused on climate activism and education.  Most of it is outside and in the field, as it should be.  But some of us will also be connecting online at MovementCamp.org -- and you are all invited.

MovementCamp.org - while convened under this eco-activist event is really the kickoff for a larger question of the information-action ecology we want and need, and how to get there.

Pamela McLean and I just recorded a 13+ minute conversation, the first of many -- we hope, and there is strong tie-in to DIN issues, and ICT4Dev.

Here's the video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjN1ypHtWTU
it looks like there is a little lag in the audio - but I enjoyed the conversation tremendously.

I encourage all on the DIN list and beyond to join us at MovementCamp - and to spread the word.  Pick up a camera, or join me in a video skype dialogue and we can accelerate innovation and exchange of the best ideas and practices for our field.

This ties in also to the call to rebuild and reboot our peer-networking organizations and communities (per the meeting we've called in Chicago Oct 30, following upon the Digital Excellence Conference Oct 29).

Have a great weekend, and join us if you can!  It's all virtual.   Official kickoff is 10 AM New York (10-10-10) - which is 2 PM GMT, if my math is right.

Best regards!

Michael
