Doesanyone know if there are any Firmware Hacks out there for the E-PL1? I have Googled around but all i can find is threads on forums discussing wether it is worth it or not. I am specifically looking for a hack to turn the flash into a video light.

Just in case anyone in the USA is not use to hearing the term, jphilp2 is talking about a flashlight. He is not suggesting you light your camera on fire. : )

Also l do not suggest Firmware Hacks. The possibility your camera will lock-up and not respond is a real likelyhood.

Thanks RSP. I have seen the LED lights and they look really good, i was just wondering if there was a way ofusing the onboard flash at lower power to act as a video light for Video Portraits. It was more a thought than anything.

Firmware hacks on Olympus cameras are a real pig

you have to create a virtual server and trick the olympus software to think it is accessing olympus servers in order to update the firmware to your chosen hack

in short its not for the faint hearted and requires some real technical trickery you can however buy a video light and thats like 30 ?

Thanks ARK, that is exactly what i wanted to know. I was unsure as to why i was coming up with nothing when i searched around. Now i know it is a very difficult thing to do i will search other avenues. Thanks again ;)
