Dear REBN Rockies Chapter Members,
Please read the following exciting development and join us for the
next networking event on January 27th (no event in November and
December).
We're writing to you today with news of exciting developments at REBN.
As you may know, REBN was started to foster business development and
growth in the clean energy sector. Since its inception as an informal
networking group in San Francisco, REBN has quickly grown to include
17 chapters across the U.S. with several more in development
(including Toronto!). We now have over 10,000 names on our chapter
listservs and over 26,000 members on LinkedIn.
In order to support the rapid growth of the organization and to
maximize its impact on the development of the sector, REBN has been
looking for a partner organization to bring our network to the next
level. It is with great pride that we now announce that we have
decided to join forces with the Clean Economy Network (CEN). CEN's
goals are virtually identical to REBN's and the organization is well-
run and gaining significant traction. It is important to note that the
kind of educational and networking events offered by REBN will
continue to be offered by CEN and that joining the organization will
remain free. In fact, all of you are already members, just by virtue
of being a member of this Chapter.
Benefits of being part of CEN include:
A vastly improved website at
www.cleaneconomynetwork.org, offering
chapter pages, event listings, and resources. You can even update
your profile. Access to a wider range of activities for those who
choose to seek them out, including advocacy for legislation that
supports the growth of our businesses and sector Improved access to
speakers for our Chapter events Smoother and easier Chapter
communicationsThe Clean Economy Network is comprised of 3 parts:
The Clean Economy Network Inc.(CENI), a 501(c)4 non-profit advocacy
arm
The Clean Economy Network Foundation (CENF), a 501(c)3 non-profit
educational and networking arm (formerly REBN) and a PAC (currently in
formation)
Please note that you may join CENF, CENI or both. Joining will simply
mean that you will receive communications from the part of the
organization that you select.
CEN's Guiding Principles, which we firmly support, are spelled out on
the CENI website (
www.cleaneconomy.net):
The Clean Economy Network (CEN) believes that economic growth, quality
jobs, international competitiveness, environmental sustainability, and
energy independence are not mutually exclusive, but rather are all
vital elements of a healthy, dynamic economy. CEN works to advance
policies that will promote a rapid transition to a cleaner economy and
incent technologies and business models that create robust markets,
create jobs, increase energy independence and promotes environmental
stewardship. In order to achieve these ends, CEN will engage in policy
discussions to:
Create the foundations for a market-based, clean economy.
Encourage programs and incentives that foster the development,
commercialization, and rapid adoption of new technologies and business
practices.
Advocate for policies that are rooted in competition and encourage
innovation.
Facilitate increased transparency and cooperation within and among the
government, non-profit and private sectors.
CENF's mission statement is as follows:
The Foundation educates and engages individuals interested in playing
an active role in building the clean economy and sharing their
knowledge about the clean economy with others. Through outreach
activities, programs, and events the Foundation works to identify,
analyze and broadly disseminate business, technology and public policy
best practices and innovative ideas that can support the future growth
and development of clean economy sector as a whole.
For the time being, we will continue to use both the REBN logo and the
CENF logo so that it's clear that we are the same organization. Over
the next few months, the REBN logo will be phased out and the
organization will be called the Clean Economy Network Foundation going
forward. We encourage you to visit the Clean Economy Network
Foundation website now at
www.cleaneconomynetwork.org to see what's
happening in chapters all over the country, to complete your user
profile, and to let us know what kind of information you'd like to
receive from us in the future. Our chapter homepage can be found at
