Please email or call Caitlin if you desire to participate in this very
worthwhile opportunity to express your support for:
".....a range of expanded energy research initiatives, but strongly
believe that research funding on its own is insufficient to accelerate
commercialization of new inventions and impact the growth of high
quality, clean energy jobs. Numerous studies point to regional
clusters as the most effective way to galvanize technological
innovation and accelerate sector economic growth. The Regional Energy
Innovation Consortia initiative creates a new federal program to fund
regional public-private partnerships focused on energy research,
commercialization and regional innovation cluster development."

Subject: URGENT: New England Clean Energy Innovation Consortia Letters
to Congress & Obama Administration - We Need Your Help!
Importance: High
To Supporters of Regional Energy Innovation Clusters:
We are writing to ask for your support for important Federal energy
innovation legislation currently under consideration by the U.S.
House, Senate and Administration, and to add your name to letters that
communicate this support to Congress and the Obama administration. The
letters (attached) explain the critical distinctions that make this
regional energy innovation initiative so timely.
We support a range of expanded energy research initiatives, but
strongly believe that research funding on its own is insufficient to
accelerate commercialization of new inventions and impact the growth
of high quality, clean energy jobs. Numerous studies point to regional
clusters as the most effective way to galvanize technological
innovation and accelerate sector economic growth. The Regional Energy
Innovation Consortia initiative creates a new federal program to fund
regional public-private partnerships focused on energy research,
commercialization and regional innovation cluster development. This
legislation was included in §171 of the Waxman-Markey Energy-Climate
bill in the House and now is being introduced in the Senate Energy
Committee by Senator Ron Wyden. To learn more about these initiatives,
please see our website or the attached letters.
Several Congressional committees are currently considering legislation
related to clean energy innovation and regional innovation clusters.
Support from the clean energy, regional innovation, venture and
economic development communities is urgently needed to reinforce the
unique potential of this initiative and ensure support for the
Regional Energy Innovation Consortia..
We have drafted 3 slightly different letters to (1) House Committees,
(2) Senate Committees, and (3) Administration agencies and offices.
Each of these 3 groups are in different stages of consideration of
this initiative so the letter makes specific recommendations.
We need to send these letters out to these members of Congress as soon
as possible. We therefore need your permission to use your name/title
as a signatory to this letter by 12 NOON on WEDNESDAY APRIL 14th,
2010.
Please use the voting buttons above to confirm your support and lend
your name to this important effort. If you do not see voting buttons
in the top left-hand corner of this email, please reply to Caitlin
Vaughn (cva...@necec.org) giving us permission to use your name,
title and organization.
Together, we can show Congress how important this legislation is to
their regional energy innovation constituents across the country.
Thank you ahead of time for supporting this initiative.
Best Regards from the New England Clean Energy Council:
Peter Rothstein, Senior Vice President
Tom Matthews, Program Manager
Caitlin Vaughn, Program Manager
