Clean Edge, a leading clean-tech research and advisory firm, is
expanding its team and looking for a senior-level director of business
development. This new hire will oversee and direct Clean Edge’s sales
effort, including sponsorships and memberships, and design and
implement the firm’s overall marketing strategy.

The position will have clear sales targets and lead the following
activities:

• Promote and sell the firm’s sponsorship packages, for the annual
Clean-Tech Investor Summit and annual reports, including Clean Energy
Trends and Clean Tech Job Trends, to corporate, governmental, non-
profit, and foundation sponsors.
• Promote and sell the firm’s new U.S. Clean Energy Leadership Index,
the first index and membership service to track and analyze all 50
states on their clean-energy activities, to economic development
agencies, governments, corporates, investment firms, utilities,
foundations, and others.
• Design, manage, and expand the firm’s marketing strategies across
all channels by working with and overseeing the activities of web
developers, designers, and others.
• Seek and build relationships with key clean-tech stakeholders and
existing Clean Edge partners.

The director of business development will work closely with the firm’s
managing director in taking the firm to the next level. In recent
months, the firm has hired additional staff, and is on a growth path
as it launches new products and services.

The director of business development will have the following
qualifications:

• Have 5-10 years of experience managing the sales and marketing
efforts for a research firm, media company, or related organization.
• Have proven experience and relationships within the clean energy and/
or clean-tech sectors and a strong desire and dedication to work
within this space.
• Business degree, Masters’ degree, or equivalent experience.
• Live in, or be willing to relocate to, Portland, OR.
• Be a self-starter.
• Have a home office set up and be able to thrive in a virtual team
environment.
• Have experience and understanding of media and web tools, ideally
including HTML and other web-related skills.
• Worked with contact management systems such as Salesforce.
• Be willing to not only develop strategies, but deliver results and
work the full range of activities to get the job done.

This job offers a competitive base salary, bonus structure based on
sales performance, medical benefits package including dental, vision,
and complementary care. Equity package to begin after 6-month period.
