A barrista would shudder at the look of the AeroPress. However, it quickly makes a super smooth, rich cup of coffee in less than a minute. The bitterness from the beans is eliminated during the coffee making process. And, you can reuse the little paper filter several times. As Rory demonstrates below, this is what you do:

I love the flavor of coffee and the jolt that it gives me. With the AeroPress, even though we make the equivalent of 2 shots of espresso for each of us, the jolt is not so hard that it torments my stomach with pain. Neither does my morning cup of Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk make me overly surly.

The AeroPress is funny because it's got a high-tech design but the process of making the coffee is pretty low tech. The traditional Vietnamese coffee filter system is a beloved ritual but for mornings when I need my caffeine fix quickly, the Aeropress is the perfect race-car solution.

I've loved the AeroPress since I wrote a story about it and its inventor in the Mercury News a few years ago. Since I only have the one cup of coffee in the morning, it's a super efficient and quick way to make it. Works like a charm!

Yay, AeroPress! You already know we LOVE our AeroPress. Glad to see you and Rory are enjoying its benefits, too. My favorite thing about it is that it makes delicious coffee very easily; my second favorite thing is that it's super-easy to clean and store. When we housesit at my mother-in-law's place, we use her french press pot, but cleaning it out is almost (ALMOST... but not quite) a deterrent to using it (we already burned our stovetop espresso pot there). At least when we clean the french press, we dump the coffee grounds onto the plants in her yard.

Just a clarification - condensed milk is also known as sweetened condensed milk. Don't mix the condensed milk with evaporated milk...which my wife has made the mistake of buying at the supermarket instead of the sweetened version.

Ooh, evaporated milk will turn your coffee into a yucky beverage that sticks to the roof of your mouth. Good point, Johnny!
Oliver, I noticed that Wired magazine in the April 2009 issue included the Aerobie Aeropress as a way to get around the $3 latte world. Great cost-saving tool, and kinda geeky cool.

I would have to say the German gentleman got it right for the wrong reason regarding the benefit of caffeine in hot weather. Caffeine does act as a vasoconstrictor, so it would defeat the normal response in the periphery to high ambient temperature, which is vasodilation. Caffeine's benefit in hot weather is to stop the breakdown of the secondary neuro-messengers like cAMP, resulting in increased awareness, higher blood pressure and stronger heart contractions--the so-called fight or flight response of the sympathetic nervous system. The short explanation is that people just tolerate the heat better due to the psychoactive effects of caffeine, not any change in vessel diameter, which is actually the opposite of the normal response.

Is that some kind of joke?
Next the Taliban will be proudly marketting freedom-fighter opium (maybe in 15 or so years, when they're being heavily funded again and praised for the continuous liberation of Afghanistan from terror.)
Incidentally, Rob Schultheis's Night Letters: Inside Wartime Afghanistan is an excellent read. As is, in a different vein, Gabe Hudson's Dear Mr. President.

I bought an aeropress and have been using it with different kinds of coffee but it still have this sour taste. Next, I plan to buy Trung Nguyen but I have heard rumor that Vietnamese coffee contains chemicals to increase the bitterness. Have you heard anything like this?

Trader Joe's recently started making a "New Orleans Coffee with Chicory," which is really good. I was skeptical at first, as I find the chicory flavor in Caf Du Monde a bit strong (I only like it with ice and condensed milk; I can't drink it black or even caf au lait style). But last week my local Trader Joe's had it as a sample, and it was really good. I find it much mellower than Caf Du Monde.

Drug That Affects Bones
purchase diflucan
However, it would be wise to first consider whether there are any downsides to using diflucan yeast infection and if adverse effects are serious enough to warrant having second thoughts about its use.

With the proper Diflucan dosage, it is possible to see off the symptoms and be free of yeast infection in a two weeks or, with the right treatment, this may even be possible in as short a time period as just a couple of days or so.

In the meantime, you, as the non-preferred pinky-owner, can really only reinforce your wife's boundaries and guard her free time jealously. If she's stuck for every naptime and nighttime falling asleep session, she's going to need to de-stress when she comes out. Which means that if you can pick up some of the slacasdfk with chores or things that are going to make her preoccupied, she'll be able to come out and have some time to herself to do whatever she wants to do that will clear her head and make her feel less trapped.

The Vietnamese coffee maker which I have is a small coffee pot. It looks like a hat and sits upon the top of a coffee cup. Inside is a chamber for coffee and room for hot water. It is very basic and simple, and works wonderfully...!!

i'm new to your work, andrea, but thank you for this advice on the aeropress vietnamese coffee. i found cafe du monde yesterday and used it in the aeropress this morning - so comforting! i bought the banh mi book yesterday, and ordered the pho cookbook. (i first found you through the tofu book).

Hooooooray that you went this route. I love the Aeropress and use it for my daily cup. Thanks for picking up the Banh Mi Handbook and Pho Cookbook! You'll be well equipped to rock Viet food. Thank you!

Hey everyone! We are so excited to share our first room reveal for our Mecham Dream Home Project. We started working with Ellie + Jared Mecham about 8 months ago, and started designing with them from their floorplan up! It has been such an incredible and fun experience to work on such an amazing home, with even more amazing people.

We are showcasing the Living Room with all the design must-haves and sources! In this room, the Mechams wanted a beautiful space to welcome people into their home, while still having it kid-friendly and comfortable enough that their guests feel like they can kick their shoes off and relax.

Also, with already having a basement family room that was completely casual and comfy, we wanted this space to feel different enough but still "live-able". How do you get this you may ask? Well, let me tell you...

The trick to balance out a more formal feeling room and still having it comfy and kid-friendly is to use tailored lines and soft finishes. Yes, that means no more over-sized furniture, say good-bye to scrolly and elaborate lines. You want clean, simple design that emphasize definition and structure, and then balance it out with tufting and cushioned finishes. For example, we used two upholstered ottomans instead of a coffee table so that they still had a place to put their books and drinks, but then could easily be cleared off for their kids to play. The tufting on the ottoman gave it detail and much needed interest, and the fabric kept it soft and cozy.

We went with soft hues of blues, greys, and off-whites and accented with darker navys and pinks. We wanted the focal point of the room to be the rug anchored with the dark navy otto-benches in the middle, and then to build the room from there on up. The sofas are a beautiful light grey, and the walls and art softly compliment the open airiness of the room. The result? Stunning....

My favorite part was watching Ellie + Jared's cute boys playing on the ottomans after we finished the design install. This space turned out perfect for their family, and couldn't be happier with how it all came together! Stay tuned for the rest of their home reveal! What room would you like to see next?

I've been using an ARM Mac for some time now, meaning that my main build machine runs on ARM. I decided to take a bigger step and start building an ARM version as well. I offer self-hosted installations, for example, inside your company, which I'm using myself during all my classes or talks. Running Docker in native mode instead of translating Intel to ARM and vice versa seems to be a good thing.

I tested parts of that on my machine. The build itself did work. Getting LLVM/Clang for ARM was a different story. For a while now, I've been building my own LLVM/Clang distribution for C++ Insights. The reason for doing that is that the macOS version for LLVM/Clang isn't reliable. Sometimes, they get published after a new release, and sometimes, they don't.

My next challenge was using the ARM docker image during a GitHub Action run. Most articles I found online talked about how to build such an image, but I wanted to use it (I struggled with the building part before).

As far as I can tell, there is no easy way. I was hoping to be able to use GitHub's container option and pass the desired platform (arm64), but that failed. At the moment, it looks like GitHub only supports native images out of the box.
