anyone want to take a stab at translating this Roza song? I can't seem
to locate an english translation..it would be much appreciated!
cheers,
dave
Ouzo morphine and hashish aman aman. (I've seen aman translated as mercy.)
I drank to forget.
But I couldn't manage the poverty.
(Google says "is about to lose", but χάσω is
future infinitive and first person, so I'm about to lose?
"Τι τάχα μάγια μου κάνες αμάν αμάν" "What supposedly makes me spell
aman aman" It sounds more like the magic and/or spell that you put on
me/that you did to me. I think κάνες is έκανες but could be wrong.
(μέχρι ψιλής μου τά 'φαγες) "and I have delight" No, I think this is
slang. Basically, he's delighting in her misery "'φαγες" is έφαγες,
meaning you ate.
"I still do not to reach." I would say I
still cannot reach you. But φθάνω means I arrive.
Since you love another aman aman.
What do you want with me? or What do you want with me anymore?
Not even a dekara smashed. (Decara is a coin of small value.)
I do not have anymore for you.
Love me truly,
There (he has or there is) a heart in his chest.
Basically, it's about a woman who is drinking ouzo and taking morphene
to dull the pain of unrequited love. But she can't forget the
metaforic spell that the man has cast on her. She loves him but he
loves another woman. She asks him what he wants from her, when she
doesn't even have a broken scent. But she tells him to love her
truly, reminding him that there's a heart within his chest. I hope
that helps and that I made sense. I'm sure that someone more
knowledgeable will explain it better.
Later,
Eleni
