Hey Everyone!
I found this wonderful wonderful song on the amazing "Mortika"
compilation that I bought a few years ago. It came with a very
thorough translation of all the songs. The thing is, I left the CD
case with the notes in Texas and now I'm in Athens, Greece! So,
something that would be a quick flip through the booklet has turned
into a research project. Does anyone know the meaning of this title?

Fantastic! Any suggestions as to how I should translate it? I was thinking "The Beat" but that might be a little too techno...lol

Here are the Greek lyrics and the translation as I wrote it in the
Mortika booklet:
1. Εγώ σου ’λεγα λάχανα και συ μου ’φερνες πράσα
Κι αφού δεν σακουλεύεσαι, έμπα μεσ’ την κάσα [x2]
Εγώ σου ’λεγα λάχανα και συ μου ’φερνες πράσα
SP. Γεια σου Φραντζέσκο με τη πενιά σου
Ωχ, άλα
ντάκα ντάκα ταριτάκα νταχτίρη ......
2. Βρε τα ματάκια σου κυρά μου
Βρε μου’ χουν κλέψει την καρδιά μου
SP. Ωχ, άλα
Translation:
1. I told you cabbage and you brought leeks+
So, ‘cause you don’t get the message,
Get in there, get into your box¤
I told you cabbage and you brought leeks
SP. Yia sou* Frantzesco with your pennia*

2. Well, those eyes of yours my lady

+ i.e. I told you one thing and you did another.
¤ As in English, this word can be taken literally, or mean coffin.
# A gibberish verse - i.e. an onomatopoetic parody of playing/beating
on an instrument.
** Dachtiri, an onomatopoeic word for beating, playing an instrument
(whacking the strings!) etc.
