Hi.

I'm a relative beginner on trichordo bouzouki and hoping someone could help me a little with Baxe Tsifliki. I have the song and the first part of the intro/interlude down fairly solidly, but am stuck with the second part of the intro/interlude. The sheet music I've found shows it as a run of notes, but on every recording I've listened to, it's a short run of chords/partial chords. While I can get the gist of it, the specifics of those two bars have so far escaped me.

If anyone has any guidance, I'd appreciate it.

Mark, I can prepare you a score (based on the first version) if you are reading music...
But I need to find some free time to do it...

Hey Babi, if you do a score, I'm sure there are many of us who would love to see it!

Babis:

That would be great if it's not too much trouble. (I read music).

Hey Mark, I recommend getting a feel of the song without scores, that way you can find ways to improvise and also discover chords and the like on your own, I've discovered some really nice chords just by playing around with things. If you stick with it, I don't think you will at all regret it.

Thanks. I'm doing both -  working from some scores and figuring out others from lots of deep listening and trying things out. The scond one is better, but every once in a hile, I need a little help:-)

You could do a lot worse than get in touch with this fellow, Vangelis Trigas (www.trigas.gr). I don't think this is in his series of "how to books" (It should be). He spends a lot of time teaching and is quite personable.

Funnily enough, I just came across his website yesterday and thinking about contacting him about some online lessons.

Hey Mark -
I have several Greek music books. I found Baxe Tsifliki in volume 2 of Tsitsanis. I have scanned it for you. Hope it helps.

Thanks, everyone, for your help on this. (What a great group.)

With that, I was able to figure out something that, to my ears, is pretty close to one of the versions I've been drawing upon.

I've attached a PDF if anyone else is interested.

Thanks again,

Mark

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to learn to play the baglama and I'm going to be in Athens for the next few weeks.  Does anyone have any suggestions of teachers or books that I could get in contact with/pick up while I'm there?
