Everytime I join or create a meeting and select "Join with Computer Audio", I get a message saying "Failed to detect your microphone and speaker. Please make sure your devices are properly connected." Then, I select "Check my Audio Devices", then "Test Speaker", wait a moment, then "Test Mic" (which I always have to click at least twice for some reason), wait again, and then it works. This happens 100% of the time. This would be somewhat manageable by joining meetings early, except when joining a meeting I have to be let into the meeting first, and then the whole process takes a full one to two minutes before the host can hear me, which makes for an awkward and unprofessional start to every meeting hosted on Zoom. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Zoom multiple times over the last few months, most recently today, and the issue always persists. I don't have this issue with any other video conferencing applications. I am using Windows 10.
If anyone else experienced this issue and found a fix or workaround, please let me know.
Zoom team, please could you make it so that whatever checks Zoom does when I click "Test Speaker" and "Test Mic" it also does automatically as soon as it fails to detect the mic and speaker, so that I can join audio much more quickly?
Thank you!
I'm experiencing this issue but have to restart my laptop each time. new laptop and no issues found on troubleshooting. I've found zoom to be very glitchy lately, also having lag on screen sharing. It can be pretty embarrassing when am running meetings.
Hi @ToastedLion @RuthDavies14 @Vandac welcome to the community! There could be a number of things that maybe causing this. Zoom utilizes what's available from your sound devices, therefore, I would start there to ensure that you have input to your microphone/speaker from your device.
You maybe have to click into this image to expand out; but, I wanted to let you know that I was able to go into my Sound settings within Windows and the Sound Control Panel, where you can see all available devices.
This is where you can troubleshoot and fix sound or audio problems in Windows. Zoom Support offers a Knowledge Base article onTroubleshooting Audio Issues, which may also be helpful. The two kind of go hand in hand.
With that being said, within Zoom, I can see that my devices for microphone are also listed within the sounds devices. This is where you can determine whether you actually have input for the playback (speaker) or recording (microphone).
Hi there, this has been a ongoing issue. Everytime I speak in the camera the video starts to lag & then stops buffering. I can never hear the replies. I need to close the app & then reload. Using the microphone is completly useless now. Can you please fix this issue. Thank you
I have checked the wi-fi and my data on my phone. All is working correctly. When usisng the micorphone there is a lag and is useless the person has left and cannot hear their responses. The lag is a least a minute to a minute and a half. Is there a fix for the issue?
Hi Jessica, I have 5 Arlo Pro 2 camera's & they all do it. I am using the Google Pixel 2XL. I've tried reinstall the app & it still does it. I have tested with wifi & cellular, both have the same issue.
Hi Jessica, I use the web client only for live view. The microphone on the web client doesn't work. I also personally wouldn't have any use for the microphone on the computer. Also, everytime I go to
www.arlo.com to view my camera's there's always the flash issue. Chrome forget's flash after it is closed. Many other browser's also has the flash issues. I wish arlo would develop a software just like the web client so we can have everything working well. Don't get me wrong, I still love Arlo devices lol
Thanks for providing those screenshots. Try to click on "Site Settings" and change the settings to "Allow" for Flash and Microphone. And what Google Chrome version are you using? Make sure you are running the latest version, which is version 71.0.3578.98.
For your Google Pixel 2 XL, could you try to log out from the app, uninstall the app, reboot your phone, reinstall the app, and re-login again? If that still causes issue, try to see if you can clear the cache on your Arlo app and see if that helps too.
Yes the site settings are all changed to "Allow". You can also see from the picture I attached. I am using the most up to date Chrome: 71.0.3578.98. This is always going to be a issue as all browser's don't support flash anymore. As I mentioned, flash always resets to block flash when you close chrome or other browser's.
For the app on the Pixel phone, I've already tried & tried again to do everything you mentioned. Nothing makes a difference. Once you activate & speak, the video starts to lag & pretty much stops & you no longer can speak. It becomes super delayed & then the microphone doesn't work.
For personalized support specific to the Arlo products you own, access Support from within the Arlo iOS or Android App. Simply login to your Arlo App, go to Settings, Support, then select the Arlo product you would like support for.
I have this issue since 12 monthes aproximately, it was solved in the latest android 12 updates.
And came back with android 13.
Not sure anyone is listening in the emptiness of space out there
Hopefully they will bring back the patch from android 12 !
I have a mageor bugs that was solved 6 monthes ago on android 12 that came back :
the inability to phone under bad weather because the phone doesn t switch to 3G to get better signal.
The only thing that is left unsolved for my case is the microphone on GSM calls with loud speakers on android 13. This is the topic of this thread.
Lots of times people say they don t hear me on lound speaker, in a quite room, at the point they want to leave the conversation. For comparison when I am in my car on the blutooth, no one wants to quite the conversation
This is excactly my same issue.
I Phone someone, just with the phone on my ear, everything works fine en im clear to hear for the other side.
once i turn on the speaker (for example to call hands free) im hard to hear or not at all.
I have tried to uninstall and update audio drivers - for the most part, it had no impact, but Intel High Definition Audio seems to have an error. It says Windows could not find drivers for my device, and I'm not sure how to download them in any other way!
I was FINALLY able to solve this audio and microphone problem, I tried so many diagnostics and driver updates without any success. The external USB Logitech speakers did work for the audio but the microphone would not work. On one of my reboots (after a BIOS check), I head a few 'notes' as the opening screen popped up. WHOA!!! It appears that since I felt that my HP 17-by4061nr uses Realtek audio drivers. when I did google 'realtek audio driver windows 11', I found "
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver for Windows 11 which allowed me to download: Audio-Win10_Win11-6.0.9452.1.zip . I unzippd this file in a separate folder and ran the Setup.exe which did do an installation but did give me an error message about a driver not found for my system.
After these few notes, I checked the Device Manager once again and saw under Audio inputs and outputs: Microphone Array (Realtek Audio) and Speaker (Realtek Audio) and under System Devices: three (3) Intel Smart Sound Technology items. All three have the ability to update the drivers (which I will NOT attempt if my audio and microphone operate successfully now.
Well, I have to say that there is something wrong somewhere. My buttons are not greyed out and it seems the microphone will record sound (based upon my scope readings), but I can't get any sound ouput from the speaker component. I was using the sample circuit for testing. It could be an incompaitiblity in my system causing this, but I am not sure. My audio card is a RealTec AC97, so this may be causing my problem, but I can't ne for certain.
Still no joy. Believe me, I have tried everything except a new sound card. I do not know if my card is 24-bit (I am assuming that it isn't). What I did find out is that I need to update my driver. I am going to update my driver tomorrow and try it again. If this requires a 24-bit sound card and mine isn't a 24-bit sound card, then I just won't be able to use it, unfortunately.
I have a USB microphone that I can chat on Skype, record sound etc. But how can I make it so that when my mic is on and I speak, Ι hear it in speakers live without having to record my voice first and then play it back? What apps do I need or where can I enable this option?
The program jackd is an audio sound server daemon for Linux, and its counterpart qjackctl is a simple user interface that lets you handle JACK audio server. From this you can virtually connect the output of your mic to your speakers.
Mixxx is awesome! I'm using it on Ubuntu (Budgie) 18.04. Quick setup, just turn it on, set up your hardware (I only had to set up the input device) and turn on the mic. You're up and running in no time with no latency, plus the ability to do tons more if you want. I dowloaded it from the software store.
You can also use OBS Studio. After you add an input source like a microphone, click on the gear icon next to it and select Advanced Audio Properties, on this menu select "Monitor and Output" for the "Audio Monitoring" option.
3) Switch to the "Listen" tab, check off "Listen to this device". While Listen is checked, your microphone will be audible through your speakers, and in a more advanced facet, through stereo mix. So if you wanted to record your Mic and Stereo Mix, this is how you would do it, but at the expense of being able to still hear your mic (it throws most people off, like myself).
If you're using Windows, you probably need to un-mute the microphone. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control. Uncheck the "Mute" box for Microphone. If you don't see a slider for the Microphone, go to Options -> Properties and check Microphone under "Show the following volume controls".
