Moved to foreign country, unknown to places and people, feeling
lonely, struck by home- sickness; all these are conditions of those
who have recently migrated outside their homeland for studies.
Professional do not feel this, as they are mentally prepared to face
the world alone and are equipped with some experience of living alone
in the real world. But the students who move out of their secure
houses for studies may find it very difficult to live without their
own folks and family. We all are aware that human beings are social
animal and cannot live without their folks, be it family or friends.
Putting up in foreign country, where every face is unknown, becomes
very difficult for many. One of the easy options to beat this
loneliness is to go for an apartment or lejligheder for rent and share
it with other students; from same country or belonging to same group.
After having rented an apartment, another big question rises for
finding right kinds of roommates. Here many agencies may help you in
finding some. Apart from that, there are ready help available online
for interviewing a roommate and assessing his/ her personality. People
can also relay on their judgment power about a person. This will help
in assessing the personality of a potential roommate. Student bolig is
a big issue in foreign countries and every person tries to deal with
it by oneself or seek help of others. There is help available online
for helping you out with finding the right person as roommate.
Here are some points which may be helpful in your herculean task.
Publish an ad in a newspaper or in your college bulletin board for
student bolig. Prepare a questionnaire for interviewing them. Conduct
a face to face discussion with each of the applicants. Take you time
to assess each one of them. If you are unable to do so, then seek help
of agencies or someone you trust for assisting you in this task.
Having a focused idea about what kind of roommate you want may help
you in short listing potential ones from the rest. There is no harm
in being judgmental about someone, while there is risk involved.
Judging a person from the clothes, approach or certificates may help
you. Strike good conversation, ask sorts of questions to know the
other person better. Hopefully these tips may help you in finding the
right person as your roommate.
