I am having some problems posting to another Google Group and wanted
to test to see if it carried over to here.
But as long as I am cluttering up your e-mail inboxes. I would like to
ask a question and make a suggestion.
The question is whether a invitation only group that allows resource
sharing outside the confines of individual blogs is useful?
For example I plan to put up a page listing various blog and web
addresses, rather than just relying on the blog roll on my site. Since
all members what be able to add and edit the page it could rapidly
become a nice repository of our joint knowledge about what is useful
and what is not. Coberly was complaining about searching for a
particular data set and just getting junk back out of Google. On the
other hand he could have posted here and maybe tapped into the
collective knowledge.
I managed a very similar product for my work-group at the County and
ended up building a resource used by people department wide providing
them with tools they didn't even know existed. So I don't mind if this
just turns out to be a passive group serving mostly as a Library
rather than a Bulletin Board. On the other hand it would be nice to
have some more Librarians.
So my suggestion is that members set up a page of their own and just
put whatever you like on it. It doesn't have to be strictly related to
Social Security, it can be links to other collaborative efforts.
In any event I'll keep plugging away. At a minimum I will upload
copies of the Social Security and Medicare Reports when they get
released in the next few weeks.
