Hi,

I know that realm is pre 1.0 release, so api is not frozen.

But I noticed that realm java changelog shows 0.83 version has breaking changes in the db file format.

I am currently using 0.82.2

Will there be a programatic upgrade method to migrate the db format?

As I don't want to have my end users losing their data if I upgrade the library.

Regards

Dean

Hi Dean,

Upgrading file format will be executed automatically and silently if you open existing Realm DB file with version 0.83. So you do not need to do anything. We are testing new version very carefully before releasing it not to cause an accident. If you try to verify working fine, you can use snapshot build of Realm. Please see "Using snapshots" section of readme https://github.com/realm/realm-java#using-snapshots .

If you encounter issues with the Realm Java in the future, please post an issue realm-java https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/realm-java . Issues relating to the Realm Objective-C or Realm Swift frameworks can be posted here.

Thanks

Hi Katsumi,

Thank you for your quick reply. Good news about the automatic upgrade.

Plus it definitely puts my mind at rest to hear that you are taking upgrades seriously.

So far I have found realm (java edition on android) to be very reliable and its certainly sped up my dev times versus the alternatives of using Android SQLite backing and Data Providers.

Kind regards

Dean
