There was a time when Vegas Pro shipped with the CineForm codec. At some point this stopped so currently CineForm is NOT available in Vegas Pro out-of-the-box. I own CineForm NeoScene and I have absolutely no issues with Vegas Pro 12.0 and CineForm. I get the feeling this is just marketing though with the intent that Cineform can say their codec is standardised but you have to buy their implementation in order to play actual files in the real-world.
I am piping rgb24 video to ffmpeg and encoding video. I have no issues with h.264, h.265 or dnxhd.. With ProRes and cineform, I get really odd artefacts. It seems that ffmpeg (or at least the cfhd and ProRes encoders) are ignoring the rgb24 and assuming yuv or/and planar data.
