Recently, former US Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in US history, with over 160 confirmed kills (out of 225+ claimed kills) and four tours of duty in the second Iraq War, was killed at a gun range in Texas, allegedly by a fellow-soldier he was helping to council for PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). His memoir, American Sniper, became a best-seller and led to a psuedo-celebrity status, as he made an appearance on the American TV show stars earn stripes (as he was on Dean Cain's team). His exploits, which are detailed in the book, earned him the nickname "The Devil of Ramadi" among insurgents.

This mission is based on his account of his team's involvement in the second battle for Fallujah in November of 2004, it is created in memory of CPO Kyle and out of respect for his service and commitment to helping his fellow soldiers deal with the consequences of putting one's life on the line.

Required Addons (tentative, subject to change):

Features:
~ Wide array of sniper rifles, this will be a sniper-focused mission with a lot of challenging shots
~ Larger operations taking place in a massive city
~ Wide variety of enemy types -- Fedayeen (nationalist) fighters still loyal to Saddam's regime, Mujahedeen (religious) fighters, Al-Qaeda in Iraq, and other insrugents

Updated Mission Synop:

Obj 1 - Insert to the AO
Obj 2 - Provide cover for the Marines in the Industrial district
Obj 3 - Insert to another area of the city, make your way north, get to the vantage point and take out the HVTs
Bonus Objective - Find and kill Mustafa al-Seryani, a notorious foreign sharpshooter

Phase I - Briefing and Insertion
I-A - You start at an undisclosed location north of Fallujah hanging out at a makeshift marksman's range with a couple Polish GROM operators. There is a challenge to hit all 5 targets, I may tie the Radio Trigger for the L115A3 to it. Basically, I have repeating triggers you can use to swap sniper rifles on the fly and always have enough ammo.
I-B - You get into a nearby pickup truck with PO1 Finch, your Spotter/JTAC, who fills you in on the upcoming Op-- your SEAL sniper team is being embedded with a Marine Squad. You recieve a briefing at a Polish FOB from your LT Commander, and then mount up a UH-60, which takes you to Fallujah Airport (4 hours pass and night falls)
I-C - You meet up with another SEAL Sniper and then mount up into the AAVP7A1s at Fallujah Airport, and take a ride up to the outskirts of the city, when your vehicles are ordered to hold position.
I-D - Your AAVP7A1 disembarks outside the city stretch while you take up a position in a construction site. Eventually, a small group of Mujahedeen (Hostile IND faction) are called on your position, when they are killed, 10 more hours pass (and the sun rises) and your squad is ordered to mount up again. At any time, you can obtain Mustafa's location by killing and searching his spotter, who is hiding somewhere in the construction site.
I-E - After you mount back up, the small convoy continues into the city, where you are dropped off next to a factory with a very high vantage point.

Phase II - Provide cover for Marines
II-A - You have to climb the stairs to the top of the tower, and you are teleported on the roof. I set up a nice raised platform for going prone, the area is fairly open and there's a lot of challenging areas to cover. The Marines move up ahead, and a couple groups of Iraqi Insurgents (OPFOR faction), supported by gun trucks attack. When the area has been secured, you teleport back to the top of the stairs, the other SEAL Sniper leaves your group to keep the area covered.
II-B - A Little Bird (MH-6J) helicopter carrying a Polish GROM operator arrives on the ground to pick you up. You are being re-tasked to conduct a DA (direct assault).

Phase III - Take Out the HVTs
III-A - You ride the MH-6J across the city and are dropped off in a park, where Adam, a GROM sniper is already waiting. Both Polish Operators join your squad as you touch down.
III-B - You have to make your way north to the first vantage point, the area is patrolled by Mujahedeen troops supported by gun trucks and static emplacements.
III-C - Once you reach the first vantage point, you can get eyes on the second vantage point, which you need to get to in order to accomplish the objective. However, there are a series of snipers on the roofs of high rise apartments that you must take out first.
III-D - When the snipers on the roofs are all dead, you can take up a position on one of the high rises (by going through the service entrance and climbing up the elevator shaft. You can get up to the top and get eyes on the meeting area of the HVTs before the meeting takes place if you move fast enough.
III-E - Once in position, you need to kill the 2 HVTs and any other enemies in the area. Once this is done, the mission is complete...To Be Continued.

Bonus Objective - Find and kill Mustafa
- There are 8 possible sniper's perches in the city, Mustafa spawns randomly at one.
- You can find out exactly where Mustafa is by killing a spotter of his at the construction site during Phase I.
- Mustafa is max skill, has a KSVK, rangefinder and NVG's, depending on where he spawns, he will engage you whenever possible, but it's easy to get the drop on him if you know where he is.

To-Do -
- Tasks, task hints, group names, briefing, debriefing
- Load screen and overview image
- Dialog and Voice acting
- Music

Here is a WIP build in case anyone feels like hopping in and giving it a whirl. The color correction stuff is in init.sqf if you want to pull it out and try it in your own missions, I personally love the colors, it matches Chris Kyle's description of the city "as if everything had an old sepia tone filter".

There are tasks, task hints, etc., but no dialogue and the time of day shifts abruptly without any fade out/fade in.

Let me know if you get hung up anywhere, as well as any suggestions!

This is my beta test for version 0.9 of Chris Kyle:

Overview and Cinematics

These are missing from this build.

Briefing

Very detailed military style briefing with a massive amount of information. Feels very authentic and tells my everything I need to know.

Mission

The insertion was rather lenthy with a helo ride first (the scenic part because of the huge Fallujah city) and an Amtrak ride (the more boring part). The action immediately began at the USMC checkpoint. Even before I could look for a way up at the construction site my team came under fire. Never found the dead spotter to retrieve some intel, but after a second wave of attackers, we were ordered to make our way towards a high rise building inside the city - this is where I lost 2 mates due to bumping an enemy patrol. I wonder if this is done in real life - would a fast Hummvee ride not be a safer option?

Once atop the high rise building I had a blast picking off the enemy form the distance, supporting the marines on the ground. This fun was over rather quick and my next objective found me crawling a radio tower and picking off advancing enemies in a haste, losing another squadmate. Far away in the distance I was able to make out the enemy sniper "Mustafa" which I was able to kill as well. Drawing out enemy snipers from their prepared positions required me to run around at ground level (which was not indicated by the briefing).

The last objective was not so tough once one had the right shooting position. From 150 meters away I was able to kill all the enemies plus the ones arriving in their SUV.

Debriefing

Contrary to hints at the end of the mission the debriefing talks about Afghan Taliban, not Iraqi irregulars.
