Hi, I ran across Reahl at the Python wiki. Regarding the examples part of the getting started manual ( http://www.reahl.org/docs/3.1/tutorial/gettingstarted-examples.d.html ) does it seem like a good idea for there to be a suggested order to working through the examples?

Widgets:
From the main page, do you think the link to "Widgets let you work on a conceptual level" ( http://www.reahl.org/docs/3.1/features/tabbedpanel.d.html ) should have a catalog of all the standard widgets somewhere?

I believe I found most of them by searching the code. They are mainly in this file:

Screenshot:
On this page ( http://www.reahl.org/docs/3.1/features/tabbedpanel.d.html ) the screenshot images are broken.

Hi,

Thanks for your email, and thanks for spotting the screenshot issue - It has been fixed. The website was recently revamped and any suggestions to improve it are most welcome.

"does it seem like a good idea for there to be a suggested order to working through the examples?"
- Not exactly sure what you mean here. If you follow the "next" link on each page(stating from "Getting Started", it should take you through
the install tutorial,  how to to run the examples,  and then the actual examples like a story book.
If you want to see the overview you could click on the "Documentation" link in the main nav bar, where you can see the outline and summary.
What do you suggest we change?

"From the main page, do you think the link to "Widgets let you work on a conceptual level" ( http://www.reahl.org/docs/3.1/features/tabbedpanel.d.html ) should have a catalog of all the standard widgets somewhere?"
- Do I understand it right: You would prefer to jump to the index instead of the first example?

"I believe I found most of them by searching the code. They are mainly in this file:http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~iv/reahl/trunk/view/head:/reahl-web/reahl/web/ui.py"
- True, most are there, but more are in other files too. We have a great collection of widgets, but there are some "we" must still build :->

Please keep in touch, we will gladly try to assist where possible.

-Craig.

Hello,

"does it seem like a good idea for there to be a suggested order to working through the examples?"

I think do... if you just landed there wanting to work through a number of examples instead of going through the tutorial (which is much more wordy) it would be handy to know a bit more about the point of each one, and have them ordered. I will log something for this on launchpad - we can add some metadata to each example that explains its purpose (like we do with config) and give it an order. This info can be used in the output of reahl listexamples and explained on that page for a start.

"From the main page, do you think the link to "Widgets let you work on a conceptual level" ( http://www.reahl.org/docs/3.1/features/tabbedpanel.d.html ) should have a catalog of all the standard widgets somewhere?"
That was actually only meant to illustrate the general idea. Would a link to http://www.reahl.org/docs/3.1/web/ui.d.html have helped you Terrance?

Regards

Yes!!!! That is exactly what I was looking for. If you can imagine someone scanning your site to get an idea of the power and ease, they want to see a list of widgets like that within one or two clicks of glancing over the site. So on the main page where it says "Reahl lets you build a web application purely in Python, and in terms of useful objects that shield you from low-level web implementation issues."

The word "useful objects" should be a link right to http://www.reahl.org/docs/3.1/web/ui.d.html
