A question from one of our PECO community members:

Our long-term contract for green electricity with TriEagle has ended. We were paying $.0675/kWh, which looks like an amazing deal now. But it “decayed” to a month-to-month contract for $.1129/kWh, which doing a little googling, doesn’t actually look that far out of line. I couldn’t find a long-term plan for TriEagle online. Their page keeps thinking we live in Texas.

However, are there better deals out there? (I guess I’m not really expecting you to go thru all the details that follow here, but are there any great deals out there?)

PECO’s rate to compare is $09287, but presumably that’s not “green".

I’ve been looking for deals without a termination fee. What I’ve found so far is:

Safe Harbor Clean Value 36 - $0.1149/ kWh - which is a bit more, but for a 36-month contract, which may be good if prices continue to go up. Carbon free, which may include nuclear.

Verde Energy - Clean Power 12 - 10.69¢ / kWh - 12 Month Fixed Rate
They have a 24-month rate, but that’s $0.1229 / kWh, with a $100 termination fee, which while Safe Harbor looks like a good deal for 36 months. Verde's own website doesn’t show the Clean Power 12 plan (it only shows a 12-month plan with a Home Depot Gift Card), but Pennsylvania Energy Ratings does: https://secure.paenergyratings.com/checkout/resume/1752625341880133654

There’s also the local The Energy Co-op and their monthly rate is the same as TriEagle, but their 12-month plan is more - EcoChoice100 National – Fixed (12 months) | $0.1749 / kWh. Their PA sourced electricity is a lot more at $0.2249 / kWh:  https://www.theenergy.coop/renewable-electricity-product-options/#gf_33

Any advice? Are other companies/plans worth looking into?

Thanks,
Rich
