Volunteers with Community Advocates for Clean Energy of Greater Philadelphia (cacephilly.com) are working with the PA Solar Center and the Philadelphia Energy Authority's Solarize Greater Philadelphia in mapping the solar potential for a number of municipalities in SE PA.

The volunteers estimated the rooftop solar potential for the 45 Ready for 100% Clean Energy municipalities and others with EAC's. Here are the estimated costs and potential savings of this project:

The next step is to reach out to the municipalities with the estimate for their building(s).  There is still an opportunity to qualify for the 30% federal credit on their installation if completed and operating by the end of 2027. The PA Solar Center and the Philadelphia Energy Authority's process will help municipalities evaluate opportunities to finance the installation or enter into a Power Purchase Agreement with solar developers.

Please submit this form if you would like to help with the outreach to your municipality.

This is an opportunity to spread the word about the financial savings from installing solar.  Solar is becoming more valuable as electricity rates increase. Between January 2022 and January 2026, PECO's Commercial Rate Price to Compare has increased approximately 50%.

This exercise also identified 12 municipalities that have installed solar or are planning to.
