In its fifth edition, Introductory Chemistry Essentials further continues to fostered deep interest in the subject by demonstrating how chemistry applies to your everyday life. It introduces students to the fundamental concepts of Chemistry, as well as the key elements needed to develop a sound understanding and appreciation for this complex subject. Combining clear written prose with extensive illustrations and photos, the book provides all the information any student will need to successfully complete this important course.

Introductory Chemistry Essentials includes detailed discussions on the chemistry of common household chemicals, from the elementium found in pennies to the cadmium found in pens and computers. The book also introduces the chemistry of the periodic table and lists the most common elements. The book concludes with a review of key topics in introductory chemistry, as well as some further considerations on writing tests and choosing lab coats. While the book is very easy to read with engaging written content, there are some elements of the text that could use improvement. Specifically, the discussion on choosing lab coats and writing tests is quite lengthy and could use a better description of the types of criteria used in this process.
