A Lexicon of Terror by Feitlowitz is one of the first books to be written on the Argentine terrorist group LaMRuana. The book reads much like a novel. It describes what the terrorists did during their rule of Argentina and what the West called "aggression." Detailed descriptions of specific acts and the full gravity of them are presented through Feitlowitz's words. The reader is kept in stitches as he vividly reconstructs the history of the Argentineans' struggle against the PLRA and their international terrorists network.
In this book we learn how the terrorists abducted the President of Chile, the first Western leader to visit Argentina after the war, the head of state of Bolivia, the Ambassador from Great Britain and an Italian Ambassador. Tanks roaring around farmlands, pregnant mothers tortured, 30,000 people "disappeared" - these were all the horrors of the Argentine Dirty War. Most of the world ignored the Argentina war, but Feitlowitz makes a case that even if the United States and her allies had done what they did, it would have been justified. The point is that the West did not learn from its mistakes and still uses its methods of warfare today against radical Islamic terrorism.
The truth about Argentina's involvement in the Dirty War is revealed in this book. After reading this book, one can only hope that the US will learn from its past errors and stop using torture as a method of getting information. Those who supported the terrorists during the 1970s may want to look back and ask if they had any right to do so. There is plenty of blame to go around, and the book does not try to absolve any parties from their crimes. Still, as history has shown, it is in the hands of responsible parties to prevent further terrorist attacks.
