"Unlimited Memory: How to Use Advanced Learning Strategies to Learn Faster, Remember More and be More Productive":

It introduces how to remember things that are random, abstract or just to many. I used to wonder how those "memory champions" can memorize tens or hundreds of random cards/numbers/objects in a few minutes. This books has a partial answer. Here are some basic techniques.

1. Bring information to life:
SEE principle:
  • S – Senses: that is through sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. When you utilize your senses you experience more of life and you remember more.
  • E – Exaggeration: what is easier to remember: a strawberry that is normal size or one the size of a house? Make your images larger or smaller than life. What is more memorable: an elephant or an elephant wearing a pink bikini?
  • E – Energize: give your pictures action. What creates more feeling in your imagination: a horse standing still or a horse that is running and moving?  Use action; it brings life to your memories. Make your images act in illogical ways: you can weave, crash, stick, or wrap things together. We can make things talk, sing, and dance. Think about the great genius Walt Disney.

2. Use location to remember:

Use your long-term memory (LTM) like your car, or your body as a base to host things to remember.

LTM offers you a place to store the information. The locations in the car become storage compartments for the short-term memories (STM). LTM + STM = MTM  (middle-term).

The more order you put into a subject the easier it will be to remember. The secret to accelerated learning is superior organization.

3. Pegging Information, make your encoding sheet:
e.g. use the following visualizations as your encoding:
One-Bun, Two–Shoe, Three– Tree, Four– Door, Five– Hive, Six– Sticks, Seven– Heaven, Eight– Gate, Nine– Vine, Ten– Hen
Put things you want to remember into them:
e.g.
1. Love and warmth 2. Appreciation and gratitude 3. Curiosity 4. Excitement and passion 5. Determination 6. Flexibility 7. Confidence 8. Cheerfulness 9. Vitality 10. Contribution

These methods are not hard. The key is to keep practicing.

From other sources: how do people memorize 54 poker cards' order in a few minutes. One possible way:
  1. Practice visualizing each card, like, Q of heart is a women in red dress.
  2. Choose a location to place them, like, your apartment, from living room to bedroom.
  3. Put them in your "apartment" in order.
  4. Recall what you see in your room.
