Parks & Palaces ride - Saturday 18th October 2025

This Saturday I'll be riding to London on the Parks & Palaces Ride from Dinton. 

We’ll visit four royal parks (Windsor, Bushy, Richmond and Hyde) and two palaces (Hampton and Buckingham).

Return is by train; the Elizabeth Line doesn't require a bike reservation but obviously takes longer so your choice. These trains are every half-hour from Paddington at hh:17 and hh:47 although it’s a bu**er to get your bike down to platform level.  Three people booking will a Groupsave discount; handy if you don’t have a railcard of any description.

There’ll be two stops, Ascot for elevenses and East Mosley (near Hampton Court) for lunch.  An optional third stop is at the official Reading CTC pub, The Victoria, near Paddington station.

The pace will be very moderate.  Without jumping lights or other shenanigans our average speed through London will be 8mph.  So this will be a full day out; don’t expect to be back without packing some lights.
