This ride was another in the programme of invitation rides Cycling UK (Reading) have being offering to members & non-members alike for the past two years.
We aim to run two of these leisurely rides of about 20 miles each month although the ride scheduled earlier in the month failed due to poor weather conditions. Indeed there was some uncertainty regarding this ride as flooding particularly in areas adjacent to smaller rivers was of particular concern in structuring a suitable route.
I had worked on two alternatives but on the day worked with a third alternative with contributions from my fellow riders - sometimes rides can be like this.
Starting from Christchurch Bridge we worked our way east alongside the river through lower Caversham to Henley Road & CPV to Kiln Road, Sonning Common, Kidmore End & the Imma bakery at Stoke Row. Although some made there own ways back separately the majority returned via the Stoke Row Road & Binfield Heath. Apart from the weather becoming a little chilly it was otherwise kind. Very pleased with the turnout from a hardy bunch at this time of year. Thank you Sean, Agnieska, JeanetCycling UK Reading Mark.
Our next invitation rides are in our calendar on the Cycling UK Reading website for 8th & 15th February.
