to Cycling UK Reading
I had some doubts about the weather but there was interest from our regular Saturday riders so we decided to make our ways to the Beech Hill start. Weather was poor & we were all forced to to either find shelter on the way to Beech Hill or simply ride through the rain which was rather persistent. The group were warned to expect a delayed start until 1.30. After several attempts to take shelter I arrived at about 1.45 to find the group sheltering at the church. All were wet so the idea of a 30 mile route was abandoned. Instead it was a race for the shelter & warmth of the coffee shop at Mortimer. No further rain was experienced but it was felt sensible to accept defeat & save the ride for another day. On such a day it was amazing that we had such interest & a good turnout. What a hardy bunch you are. Thank you Barry, Simon, Clive & Norman.
