Organizational Behavior by Robert Robbins is a classic and the first in a series of books on "The Science of Getting What You Ask Of Yourself". This book covers many areas of psychology and behavior, with a heavy emphasis on the management and executive suite. It's a short book and rather dry, but don't let that fool you, this is an excellent text and a quick read. I liked that Robert did not attempt to make this a science but rather a series of observations and ideas about motivation and attitude. The practical guidance found in this book is excellent and this book is well suited for graduate students looking to deepen their understanding of management and especially those just entering the workplace.
Organizational Behavior by Robert Robbins is an excellent text for any office or business setting. With a slight twist, this text has been used as training material at some colleges. The concepts covered are practical and not overly abstract. While the book is primarily about motivation and attitude, it does touch on other aspects of motivation and performance as well. The explanations and examples found in this text are relevant and practical, and this text offers insight into some of the most challenging situations of leadership, especially in high demanding jobs such as those in the executive suite.
While it is a short book, the lessons learned are very applicable to most managers and employees. This text is a great reference for anyone who is serious about their career and even just wants to deepen their own understanding of the skills and behaviors that are required in an organization. If you've only had an opportunity to take a look at this book from the cover, I encourage you to do so. I know it will add some valuable insight to your thinking and will prove to be a very valuable self-help material for you. Learning and applying these techniques in your workplace is an invaluable skill that can enhance your job performance and even put you ahead of your own peers in terms of how quickly you catch on to new and improved methods of doing things. For those already in the workplace, Robert Robbins' Organizational Behavior is sure to provide you with much needed help in improving your interpersonal skills and performance.
